方中，德国Darmstadt工业大学博士（2005年），台湾成功大学土木系教授。现为浙江大学航空航天学院访问教授，讲授工程力学系流体力学部份课程。
Abstract:
Beginning with the definition and brief introductions of granular matter, we focus on the fascinating physics of this innovate sub-stance. Up-to-date physical interpretations, however in-complete, are given for various experimental observations, which remain open for further challenges and developments. Five typical problems and their states or art are summarized and addressed to show the applications of granular matter in almost every branch of civil engineering.
